    1994
  • Honors
    Men's Golf (1991-1994)
Michael Bjursten played golf for the Dons at their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1992. After graduation in 1994, he continued to play in city tournaments.

This is possibly the best team ever to hit the Hilltop and strong finishes are expected from junior David Kem, who is performing at his best ever this year coming in 16th at the Stanford Invitational, and Michael Bjursten, a sophomore nicknamed "Bam Bam" in high school, is hitting an impressive 73.56 stroke average. Completing the winning team will either be junior Steve Barry or senior Ted Anderson. Last year, USF finished third, only five points behind the winner, Stanford. The Dons feel confident of a great finish against many good programs. "The top finishers could improve their scores a little, but everyone has contributed," Fischer said.

Also advancing: former USF player Michael Bjursten, who is making his first appearance in the tournament in five years. Now 31 and working in commercial real estate in Marin, Bjursten beat Ivan Holmes 2 and 1. Bjursten next plays Mike Schmitz, who beat Kevin Kobalter 1 up (SFGate).
