    Men's Basketball (1950-1951)
The Dons leading scorer in the San Quentin game was 6' 5" forward Don Hermsen, who racked up 15 points for the evening. In the San Jose State tilt, 6' 6" forward Dick Jensen led the Dons With 13. The Donlets record is now 16 wins, 3 defeats, and 1 tie.

The Galloping Gaelets, paced by John Henry Johnson, were out of the running almost with the initial center jump. St. Mary's put up a tight defense that momentarily stymied the Wolpertmen, but a long range barrage from Jack Cannon, Dick Jensen, Don Hermsen, and crew took the wind right out of St. Mary's sail and left them floundering at the half by a 32-18 count.

The outstanding newcomers up from the 1949-1950 frosh squad are Jack Cannon, Dick Jensen, Don Hermsen, Keith Walker and Phil Vukicevich. Bernie Esser and Don Hermsen will see duty as forwards. Esser has been switched from guard, and is a good replacement. Woolpert terms him: "A natural forward, who should do better at that position." Hermsen stretches up to 6-5, is only a sophomore, and needs a year of seasoning. He shouldn't have much trouble developing with his fine physical potential (TheFoghorn).
