Coach Noble and his new team began the 1999 campaign on the road at the Cal Poly Invitational, before returning home to take on the Vols of Tennessee this last Tuesday night. The Dons (1-2) were involved in an up tempo match with the Vols at War Memorial Gymnasium that dramatically ended with a five set San Francisco victory. The Dons attack was anchored by freshman Christa Downey, who led the Dons with 13 kills. Freshman Teresa Russell, and sophomore Alyssa Jones added 12 kills, with Russell adding seven blocks. Tuesday night's victory was the first back to back victories for the Dons since 1996. "I acknowledge the bad streaks at USF," said Noble. "We are going to tackle those one by one (TheFoghorn)."
