Laila Danielsen played soccer for the Dons from 1991 to 1992. After she graduated with a Bachelors in Business from USF, she played professionally in Japan for Tokyo Shidax. She later attended the Norwegian School of Business for a Masters, and is currently CEO of Elliptic, an international software company in Norway.

Nobody gave the Dons a chance against the 13th ranked University of Santa Barbara Gauchos in last Saturday's contest at Negoesco stadium. USF, coming off a morale boosting win over San Francisco State, after the disappointing 0-3 northwest road trip, had the look of lambs led to the slaughter prior to the game. All hope of a USF victory seemed empty as the two teams took the field, the Dons overmatched by their nationally ranked counterparts. But, as they have repeatedly thus far this season, USF dug deep into their hearts and played like champions, posting the biggest win in women's soccer history at USF. With just under 12 minutes left in the first half, sophomore Denise Eldredge booted a free kick from the left sideline near midfield towards the goal, where senior Liala Danielson out jumped defenders to lightly head the ball past UCSB goalie Dana Visse for the only goal of the game. It was the senior from Loddefjordv, Norway's third goal of the season (TheFoghorn).
