The season ended on a high note with the team avenging a earlier loss to UC Berkley, then losing a close game against Santa Clara University. Behind the efforts of senior captain Keith Birdthistle during the Santa Clara game, the team poured on the offense to maintain a lead throughout the game. Off a controversial penalty call, the Broncos scored a field goal with minutes remaining in thc game, winning 16 to 15. Senior hooker Tetsujiro Takiguchi commented on the game, "The team gave it all they had, but came up short. We'll meet these teams again next year and we will improve... it's very promising for next year (TheFoghorn)."
Takiguchi graduated in 1990 in Finance and played rugby for the Dons.Â
