Why Ignoffo Chose USF: “I was all set to attend City College when my friend, Bill Cox, told me to go see the USF men's soccer coach Gus Donahue. I was All-City Soccer for two years at Lincoln High School and he thought I could help the team. Cox was the Dons goal keeper was responsible for me getting into USF."
Favorite USF Memories: “I have great memories of my athletic years at USF, as I made many friendships and even have a great lifelong friendship with a teammate, Tom Klitgaard, who was my best man at my wedding in 1956. The team did go to Los Angeles on a trip to play Cal Tech and UCLA. It was a great time on that trip and we won both games. We almost lost the game with UCLA due to the smog which we were not used to, because at halftime most of the players were exhausted due to bad air quality, but we came back to win.”
The USF Student-Athlete Experience: “You were respected as a student-athlete on the USF campus, and those were the days our basketball team won back-to-back national championships with Bill Russell and K.C Jones. The men's soccer team was also up there in the college rankings as one of the best in the nation.”
