Ed Subica was a native of Mountain View, HI. He was a member of the Math Club, the Block Club, the Hawaiian Club, and the Student Council. He played baseball all four years and graduated in Psychology in 1966.
The Varsity baseball team ended the season on a losing note by dropping their last three games, two to the San Francisco State Gators and one to the Santa Clara Broncos. The losses gave the Dons a final season record of 17-15-2. It also marked the end of the Hilltop careers of six fine senior players, Jim Beasley, Ed Subica, Frank Burch, Mike Green, Dave Gonsalves and Larry Marietti. Burch was the Don's strongest starting pitcher, but next year Carl Boyer and Joe Gualco should be the mound mainstays. When Beasley was injured, Subica moved from the outfield to amply fill in the catcher's position. Larry Marietti, the slugging left fielder, has contributed greatly to Don baseball, as have relief pitcher Green and third- sacker Gonsalves (TheFoghorn).
