The Dons did only marginally better in the nightcap, scoring one run on three hits while Portland racked up nine runs, eight of them off Trip Humphrey (3-7) who pitched six innings with one strikeout. Moreover, with one out in the top of the third inning, Head Coach Nino Giarratano, Nitta and McCall were all ejected. Despite the bleak outlook for the rest of the Dons' season, there has been one positive note,  "Nobody's going to let down," says Nitta, "No one is going to give in. We're going to finish out the year and try and be a spoiler." USF introduced junior transfer Trip Humphrey, a left-hander from Wichita State who is currently the leading candidate for the first spot in the Dons starting rotation (TheFoghorn).
