David Luhrs graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor's in Business and Accounting, and worked as a CFO for Silicon Valley Finance Group in Northern California. He played baseball for the Dons as an outfielder.
Reno jumped to an early lead in the ballgame of 3-0 before the Dons began to come back. A single by Bill Murray in the sixth gave USF their first run while in the seventh, Kevin Smith made it 3-2 with a double that chased home Tony Ragusa. Finally in the ninth, the Dons tied it on the efforts of Dave Luhrs. The freshman outfielder singled, stole second, and scored when Biehle booted Tony Ragusa's ground ball for an error. However, it all went for naught in the fateful tenth.
All-League selection John Mangiante will direct the outfield in center after batting .330 in 1981. In right field is senior Mike Mooney (.274) and in left field Dave Luhrs. Dave Paulus and Al Pasquinelli are competing for the job (TheFoghorn).
