Played three seasons at USF from 1956-1959…reserve guard and forward who averaged a career high 5.3 points as a senior…native of San Francisco who attended Lincoln High School. he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in 1959.
Although no positions have been definitely determined as yet, the leading contenders seem to be John Cunningham, 6' 4" center, from San Diego; Jerry Robinson, 6' 7 1/2" center from Oakland; Ed White, a stand-out defensive player from Washington high school in San Francisco; "Bud" Backman; Ed Slevin; Dave Lillevand; and Marv Fregi. Others Don Yearlings are: Bob Radanovich, Tony Clark, Gary Mcintosh, Urie Walsh, Bill Smith, Bern Schneider, Ed Griffin, Don Moses, Johnny Clark, Tim Brophy, Lou Cappefoni, Yen Jew, and Paul Fratessa.
Only Jack King is lost via the graduation route. Gene Brown, Mike Farmer, Mike Preaseau, Art Day and Al Dunbar give Woolpert a strong nucleus to build another championship team, and the presence of Bill Mallen, Dave Lillevand, John Koljian, Bob Radanovich, and Charlie Russell would strengthen any coach's bench. Yet, of the whole group mentioned above, only Day, Radanovich, and Lillevand will have another year of eligibility after the 1957-1958 season (TheFoghorn).
