Franki Fitterer has joined the university as the new director of communications and marketing for the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus in Alexandria, VA. Prior to this posting, she led the Department of Public Relations and Marketing for 13 years at American University Law School.

Prior to American University, Fitterer was the Associate Director for Marketing and Communications at California Western School of Law in San Diego. She has a BA in Communication (journalism) from the University of San Francisco and a MA in Political Science from American University's School of Public Affairs.

Fitterer is a resident of Falls Church City, and is originally from Edgewood, Washington (VTech). At USF she was a Sportswriter for The Foghorn.

Seniors Anne Navarro, Rose Titcomb, Sraddha Basnyat, junior Franki Fitterer, sophomore Beth Thomas, and freshmen Ethel Castro and Mandy Kockersperger quit the team after first-round matches in a tournament at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo on Friday, March 27, after season-long tensions with their coach reached a breaking point. The players called friends in San Francisco, who drove down to San Luis Obispo to pick them up. In the days since, the team has filled its vacancies and now carries 11 players on its roster. Between March 27 and the players meeting with Hogan, Howard and Hogan mutually agreed that the best course of action was to finish the tennis season by soliciting the roster spots to USF student-athletes who compete in other sports (TheFoghorn).
