The second game looked a little better for the Dons as they competed against UOP. Even though they lost 15-9 and 15-4, players such as junior Debbie Stark built up the team spirit. Shortly after being substituted into the game, Stark made two very impressive line ball saves. "What we lacked was experience," comments Junior Margie Hutton, "we made up for with our poise and self-confidence."

Coach Niebauer has done an excellent job of training and leading the USF women runners into first class intercollegiate competition. He is dealing with amateur athletes who receive no scholarships for their athletic endeavors on the hilltop. The existence of the team itself, is undoubtedly only recognized by a very small minority of people at USF. The women's team is competing parallel to the men's team this season. Many of their races are tournaments in which both male and female teams compete in their own divisions. Leading the women runners this year are juniors Lisa Beritzhoff and Debbie Stark. Both are very consistent runners who are looked upon to supply the necessary experience and leadership in running competition (TheFoghorn).
