The most recent addition to USF's fine coaching staff is 29 year old Jim De Roos, a 1965 graduate of the Hilltop school. A native of Sacramento, De Roos earned All-City honors in both football and basketball playing for the then Bishop Armstrong High School (now Christian Brothers). Coming to USF on a full athletic scholarship, De Roos played two years for Pete Peletta's varsity. Receiving an ROTC commission, Jim continued playing ball in the Army. In addition to serving in the Fourth Infantry and the Fifth Special Forces unit in Vietnam, Jim was also a player/coach for the 8th Army team in Korea. In his first collegiate coaching assignment, De Roos figures to be an asset to the freshman program in which he will be assisting Bill McClintock (USFFoghorn).
