Out of DeAnza College is Cathi Ciardella. Cathi, like her teammate Nettie, she is a dual player, with the ability to play either left field or short stop. Her versatility will insure the Dons ample coverage of the field, and the flexibility to switch around and try new combinations.

Yet, the low key Ciardella. the team captain, discounts here effect on her teammates. "I'm always trying to motivate them, but it comes from within each person." Miller and Ciardella both have explanations for the Dons fast start then rough times that have left them with a 20-18 record. "(We've) had a lot of frustration, but we had too high expectations." said Miller. "We weren't looking at what we were doing (poorly or) well, just did we win or lost." Ciardella added. "It takes a couple of years for things to jell. We've had a good season. You just got to keep fighting. You can't give up."

The winning goal was scored by Cathy Ciardella. In the first half, the Dons basically tried to keep SFS from scoring, however, in the second half the Dons dominated the game. They moved the ball up and down the field as a team. They ran the triangle formation well, they even did some overlapping. They played an excellent game. They deserved to win (TheFoghorn).
