Jon Rochlin played infield and second base for the Dons and batted left and threw right.
One teammate that Nelson knows especially well is infielder Jon Rochlin. The two played together for two years at Canada JC before coming to USF together. Nelson says, "It just seems like we both know our college career is coming to an end, and we're just sort of getting ready for it to end... Butjonny's been a mainstay in the lineup this year. He'll battle. He's improved a whole lot from last year, his hitting." The dependable Rochlin has started in fifty-one of the Dons' fifty-two games this year, and leads the team in at-bats, hitting a solid .271 with 28 RBIs.
The Dons, however, came roaring back with a two-run, two- out double in the fourth by Jon Rochlin and later, a five-run seventh inning. The latter showcased two-run homers by pinch hitter Bryan McCaffery and catcher Rich Crawford. Crawford's round-tripper was his second of the day, to go with his second inning solo shot. In the sixth inning, USF improved on a 2-1 lead with successive singles by Taichi Takanabe, Taclas, and Watkins. An RBI ground out by Rochlin led to three runs en route to the 5-2 victory (TheFoghorn).
