After dinner we all went to the women's volleyball game vs. USIU, and played a somewhat major inspirational role in only the team's third win of the year. Oliver Keller and Dayak were the head cheerleaders, and I was amazed at the noise thc normally docile soccer players generated. Despite being in an unfamiliar high school gym and playing a San Diego-based team, it had to be the Don's best home game of the year as they breezed, three games to one, behind the strong play of Melanie Kaiser and Jenny Schrack. Athletically, it was the highlight of my trip.
Coach Corbelli says the team is a very smart group capable of adapting lo the situation at hand. "We made key adjustments last night (against BYU Hawaii), and when I see that kind of progress I'm happy," she says. According to Corbelli, both Denise Pardoen and Anastas are playing well in the middle. Jenny Schrack, Corbelli says has made a big contribution as well. "When she comes off the bench she brings a punch to the team (TheFoghorn)."
