Wilson Stephens was born in 1975 and played basketball for the Dons as a swingman. He graduated in 1995. He later played for Maccabi Ashdod Gderot in Israeli Artzit.
The two stars won't be alone, though. Helping Johnson under the glass will be his former high school teammate, Tim Owens. A 6' 5" transfer from Midland JC in Houston, Owens is another guy who will be expected to play above the rim and do his fair share of scoring. Jason Boyd, a 6' 8" freshman out of, you guessed it, Texas, is another tremendous leaper who should see quite a bit of ume. And speaking of leapers, you've probably already heard of Wilson Stephens, who rocked the house at "Madness" with a lean-in 360. Voted San Francisco's High School Player of the Year by the Examiner last season, the 6' 5" McAteer product is another newcomer who will challenge for minutes. He too scored close to 30 points a game last season to go along with a healthy average of almost 12 boards.
The only bright spots of the evening for the Dons were the efforts of Owens (15 points, 9 rebounds, and great defense) and freshman substitute Wilson Stephens from San Francisco's McAteer High. Stephens was the lone Don to shoot at any level of respectability, connecting on half of his six attempts from the field, and all four of his free throws. His dunk early in the second half was the only play to remember in what was a truly forgettable night for the home team (TheFoghorn).
