Thierry Blanson was born on Sep 20, 1962, in Aubervilliers, France.

He played as a Midfielder and scored one goal and assisted on another. Goalkeeper Mark Powell recorded nine saves to lead San Francisco to a 3-2 victory in a driving cold rain over the 14th-ranked Nevada-Las Vegas Sunday night in the 1983 West Coast Regional final of the NCAA soccer tournament. The Dons advance to third round of the tournament (UPIArchives).

After USF, he played professionally in France for AS Red Star 93 from 1985 to 1986, and for US Senlis from 1986 to 1988.

John Alexander will be studying abroad this year but is expected to return for the 1982 season. The Dons' sixth top scorer Danny Civitarese is academically ineligible to compete in intercollegiate athletics this year. Also remaining in Europe are Luis Felipe Magalhaes, and Jo Bergsvand. Thus, the strength of the USF team lies in its tough defense. Although two new acquisitions, freshmen Thierry Blanson from Paris, and Glen Van Straataum from Surinam are expected to contribute some of the offensive strength that was lost.

The Dons became super aggressive, and exactly one and a half minutes later the Dons took the lead. Freshman Thierry Blanson assisted the second goal which was scored by senior Fidelis Atuegbu. The score was now 2-1 in USF's favor. The last six minutes of the period ran out and then reality hit the USF team and fans that the Dons were back where they belong: leading the nation. Elberse, who scored the tieing goal, commented. "It was a total satisfaction to beat UConn (TheFoghorn)."
