There is a full team of substitutes along with several sets of backfield aces to relieve the eleven starting men. Among those figured to see plenty of action before the dusk settles over Mackay Field were Clint Letlow, Deb Ward, Frank Reichlin, Andy Coon, Jake Jacobs, in the line, and Elmer Garrigan, Lyle Brown, Mickey McStocker, Fred Fitzgerald and Lyn Warford in the backfield.
The ends are Roy Huntley, "Daddy" Ward, "Red" Chisholm, Frank Reichlin and Hazelhurst. The first three mentioned are well known to all Fog followers, but the last two are newcomers. Hazelhurst claims California Poly as his former Alma Mammy. Reichlin Is in the role of the Prodigal Son—that is, he played for old St. Ignatius High back in '27, then he went out into the world to seek his fortune and not finding it he decided that college wasn't such a bad racket after all. Therefore he returned and is now regarded as one of the prospective ends of the USF varsity. What! No Red Hair? Reichlin is a tall rangy chap that has the build as well as the requisites of a good end. He will have plenty to do this year, but if he makes good he may be set for next year, as most of the flankmen will be playing their last year of football this season. Frank is a scrapper and the only thing missing in his makeup that doesn't denote a fighting personality is the absence of red hair. Prepped at SI High, he is not a barge of a fellow; in fact, he is rather light, weighing only 175 pounds, but what he lacks in his weight he makes up in grit. Frank Is tall enough and he has a knack of snagging passes from the ozone without the least difficulty. "Richie" prepped at our own St. Ignatius High and while there played varsity in his last two years. He was mentioned on the All-City team in 1927. The opening of school this term found Frank Reichlin's name on the list, and much to the satisfaction of the coaching staff, Frank went out for football again this season. Frank Reichlin has had a rather bad time of it—and who wouldn't after a layoff of two years? Yet under the hand of that renowned teacher "Experience" he will soon be playing the game he is capable of (TheFoghorn).
