Although only in its first year of charter, the Chinese Students of USF undertook an admirable program to promote Chinese culture on campus. Beginning the year with a Chinatown banquet, the club capitalized on this early success by initiating Chinese Week to coincide with the Chinese New Year. In addition to sponsoring such events as beach parties and movies, the club also participated in International Week (TheDon).

The golf team had four of its top six players back from the 1967 season. Senior lettermen Bill Reid was outstanding in the early season matches while Mark Avelar, Mike Collum, Jake Montez and John Zimmerman, showed promise of providing top notch support. 1968 was the first year that the NCAA has allowed freshmen to play with the varsity, and USF was fortunate to have freshmen Pat Murphy, and Jon Jew, who showed signs of taking over the number two or three spot on the team.
The 1968 schedule was the toughest yet, with matches against Fresno State, San Diego State, Stanford, Brigham Young University, as well as the usual WCAC teams. The Golf team competed in three tournaments, considered by some to be the three best in the West: the Far Western Invitational, the United States Collegiate Tourney, and the Western Intercollegiate Tournament (TheDon).
