Alvin Brown was a graduate of Granada Hills High School, and played at the University of San Francisco. He began coaching in 1998, and in just his third year at Kilpatrick High School in Malibu, CA, Brown led the Mustangs to the Southern Section V-AA final, and the school's first Alpha League title ever. The Mustangs compiled a 27-3 record, losing only one game all year before the Southern Section final defeat to Calvary Chapel Downey (KHSAthletics).
Number 31 Alvin Brown Junior 6-6, 245 lbs. from Los Angeles, CA, Brown led the Coast Valley Conference in rebounding last season with 10.4 per game while at Columbia College. He helped lead Columbia to the Final Eight of the state tournament and a record of 31-5 last season. Brown was named to the JC All-State team after averaging 14 points per game. "Alvin is a widebody. I love his ability inside," commented Coach Brovelli.
Searching for a solution, Head Coach Jim Brovelli discovered it as he fielded a revamped line-up in the consolation game of the KYLT Classic at Montana against Southeastern Louisiana. Brovelli started Alvin Brown and Wilson Stephens, instead of Tim Owens and Kevin Weeks to jump start the team's lethargic play. Behind Darryl Johnson's 24 points and 15 rebounds, USF defeated SE Louisiana 85-78. Orlando Smart tallied 17 points, six assists, and four steals and Travis Bice had 12 points (TheFoghorn).
