A native of San Francisco, Randy Bolanos attended Riordan High School and majored in Psychology at USF. He was 5' 9", and 160 lbs, and played soccer from 1973 to 1974.

After the halftime break, the game resumed as the spectators watched and cheered from the stands and the surrounding areas. As approximately two hundred loyal fans voiced support from the benches nearby, the Hilltoppers gamed control of the ball and sent it back down the field where, on an assist from forward Randy Bolanos, Van der Heyden kicked the goal which raised the Dons lead to 4-0.

San Jose efforts to regain the ball, the elder Roboostoff maneuvered it around the field until he came within reach of the goal and sent it in to put the Dons into the lead, for the first time in the game. This was soon followed with a shot by Paul Korn which also resulted in a score for the Dons. This brought the Earthquakes back to life, and they put two more shots past the Don goalkeeper to even the score. The shots, one immediately following another, were soon followed by a third Earthquake goal. This brought the Dons back to life and Alex Roboostoff passed the ball to Tom Tronstad, who scored the sixth USF goal on an indirect kick. This was improved by Randy Bolanos' scoring attempt, which cleared and put the Dons into a 7-6 lead (TheFoghorn).
