Cross Country (1989), Softball (1988-1989)

Well, as a member of the softball team I have done my part for their recognition and broke my leg so that I could morally write an article for the team. The team is keeping their spirits up. While playing San Jose State the other night, third baseman Julie Harper (while playing second base) responded to the Spartans cheers of "we want a hit - hit- hit - hit," with a plea of "we want an out - out- out - out." I won't add that the Spartans slammed out a total of 23 hits that night, 19 singles, 3 triples, and 1 home run.

During the second game, the Bears scored early off of pitcher Susanne Walker, and Cal tallied four hits and five runs in the first inning. USF fought back in the second inning and came up with two runs. Third baseman Julie Harper and designated player Robin King scored the two runs for USF. The two RBI were awarded to freshman Anne Ibarra as she made it to third on a throwing error by the Bears third baseman. The Dons remained scoreless the rest of the game with a final score 9-2 (TheFoghorn).

Harper also ran cross country.
