Sub-quarterback, Gene Sweeters came in and Started hurling left-handed passes all over the lot. One to Charlie Weber, good for 51 yards overall, counted the third score, while the conversion attempt again went for naught. Later in the game, the second quarter to be exact, the baseball like throwing arm of Sweeters again went to work. A beautiful 41 yarder to End Bill Reed set up the scoring—a pass to Jerry Rice in the end zone. Rice stepped back as the place kicker, but the score remained U.S.F. 23, Kansas State 0 (TheFoghorn).
