Robert Lee attended USF in the class of 1951, and was inducted into the USF Hall of Fame in 1970 for soccer. He played on the Dons team that won the 1949 NCISC Championship against Penn State in St. Louis. He captained the team 1948 to 1949. His teammates were fellow Hall of Fame colleagues: Dick Baptista, Angelo Carmassi, Steve Negoesco, Olifumni Osibogun, Benigno Toda, and Gus Donaghue. Following graduation with a Degree in Biology, he taught in the public school system in San Francisco. After earning his PhD., he then joined the faculty at Stony Brook University in New York.
