DUMPS FOGHORN: On a field ankle deep in mud and slush, the IRS toyed with a trying but undermanned Foghorn team Monday to chalk up an effortless 33-0 triumph. The Reds were held to six in the initial quarter, scored two TD's in the second, none in the third and concluded the assault with two markers plus a safety in the final frame. The Reds showed a good running game but depended on passes when deep in Newshawk turf for all their touchdowns. In the first canto Dick O'Brien shot one to Jack Grealish. In the second O'Brien passed, this time to Dick Valentine, and later in the same period Frank Manko (TheFoghorn).

Richard "Dick" Aloysius Valentine was born on November 11, 1925 in San Francisco. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School and at age 17 entered the University of San Francisco, simply waiting to volunteer for the Navy but entered the California Maritime Academy instead. He graduated as a deck officer with a reserve commission in the Navy. He returned to USF to complete his Business education. He joined the Pennzoil Products Company immediately and remained for 41 years, attaining the position of President during the final five years in Houston (SFChronicle).
