James Christie Olsson was born on December 24, 1946, in San Francisco. Jim grew up in San Mateo and graduated from St. Gregory's, Junipero Serra High School, USF and Santa Clara University. He played basketball for Junipero Serra and for USF.
UCÂ Santa Barbara, playing without their star player, Leroy Jackson, proved to be no match for USF last Friday night in Memorial Gymnasium, and were beaten handily 75-63. The Dons took an early lead and were never headed. They led at the half by 38-29 and with sophs Rich Schaer and Rich Ames and junior Jim Olsson getting some much-needed experience they out-scored the Gauchos by three in the second half for the final margin (TheFoghorn).
