This year's Don team must certainly be recognized as a strong and powerful force. Four of last year's five starters are returning to the line-up. The loss of center Pete Cross (Now with the Seattle Sonics of the NBA), has been somewhat compensated with the addition of "red- shirt" Ron Dahms, a 6'11", 210 pound center playing his first season at USF. Another "redshirt" probable starter is 6'5", 195 pound forward Steve Ferrebouff, who is in his sophomore year of eligibility. The returning starters from last year include forwards Ron Centerwall and John Burks; and Terry Senn and John Hancock at guards. The third "redshirt"; guard Ron Santos, is joined by first year varsity members Mike Quick and Phil White.
Ron Santos nearly missed cracking the frosh scoring records held by Larry Blum and Bill Russell last season. A great defensive player in addition to his scoring ability, Santos led the yearlings in every department except rebounding. His trademark is consistency —last season his lowest output was 16 points, while he shot over 50 percent in all but three games.(TheFoghorn).
