Mike Santich played basketball his freshman year and baseball the next three years. At 5' 1", he attended Bishop O'Dowd High School. He graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor's Degree. He was a member of the Block Club for four years.
This lead proved to be too much for the Frosh to overcome. The Dons entered the scoring column in the third as Charlie Ruggeroli singled and Rapp tripled to center, scoring Ruggeroli. Two walks, an error, and a double by Mike Santich, produced two more runs for the Dons and made it a 8-3 ball game. San Mateo scored two more runs, while the Dons could manage only one. The game ended 10-4 as the Dons absorbed their second defeat of the season.
Garibaldi shutout the Dons for seven frames before they scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth. Dave Lee's triple to left center, an error, and right fielder Jerry Eiler's triple accounted for the total Don run production, Mike Santich led the home attack with two singles in five trips to the plate (TheFoghorn).
