Randall Carlson attended USF on a scholarship and graduated in Accounting, and was a member of ROTC.
Competing for USF were seniors Matt Dana, Pete Galgani, Randall Carlson, and Ranger Challenge Commander Bill Hager, and juniors Peter Schaeffer, Clay Jansen, Fernando Rodriguez, Melo Quezon and Danny Magpantay. Training for Ranger Challenge began last November with physical training workouts from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. each Monday. Wednesday and Friday, in addition to occasional weekend training. Each competitor had to be competitive, highly motivated, and grounded in the fundamentals of leadership. Individually, they had to dig deep to test their character during a grueling day of competition. The USF Rangers wear their black berets with pride as they proved their mental and physical courage in competition (TheFoghorn).
