As the game drew to a close, it was uncertain at any given moment what the final outcome would be. Possession of the ball seesawed first one way, then the other. Jubilation reigned on the Hilltop when Waters sank another shot to tie the score at 31-31, where it remained at the final buzzer. After a brief respite, the game went into overtime, where USF again ran up against misfortune when Randolph fell and had to be carried off the court with an injured foot. The overtime was finally shattered when Dominican's Shelly Stefanko and "Red" Kell each scored a field goal. Although the Dons attempted to close the gap, the time was insufficient and the buzzer sounded again leaving Dominican with the evening's honors. Though tonight's game may have been a disappointment, this is by no means an indication of things to come (TheFoghorn).
