Ed De Antoni was a 6' 1", 230 lbs. native of San Francisco and attended St. Ignatiuos High School. He was a member of the Historical Society, Scabbard and Blade. He graduated in History in 1962. 

USF drove for a first quarter score with halfback De Antoni racing in from the nine, and Petterle scoring the two-point conversion on a bootleg. In the third quarter, Petterle faked a draw to De Antoni and then went back to hit LaPlante far down field. The play netted sixty-six yards and carried to the Rams' three Sterling went in for the three. Sterling went in for the final quarter, after San Benito had tallied against the Dons' second defensive unit, Petterle lofted the wet ball thirty-nine yards down the middle to La Plante (The Foghorn).
