The Dons lost their next three games at Moffett Field, Cal at Davis, and Cal Lutheran. Except for the fine play of Petterie, Kuebrich, Sullivan and Franco the Dons had little to look forward to in their final game against Los Angeles Pacific. Nevertheless, it was a determined USF squad that arrived at Los Angeles International Airport. US won in the last minute of the game when Petterle touchdown pass. Phil Mooney was outstanding all day and was on the receiving end of a Petterle pass that set up the touchdown and the 8-0 victory.

After being stymied by  a rugged Moffett defense in the first half of the game, the Dons came surging back in the final two periods to come out on top of the Fliers, 25-2.

Phil Mooney, slashing out big gains up the middie and around the ends, was again instrumental In the USF victory. He skirted left end for forty-one yards and a touchdown, and picked up a total of 130 yards for the day.

Dave Olerich scored on a tackle eligible pass-play from quarterback D.H. Ford; also scoring was fullback Ed Kuebrich who drove through the middle to account for the final Don tally. Ending the season. the Hilltoppers won an unprecedented five straight games and finished with a very creditable 6-2 second (TheDon).
