"Clipper" Smith will be in Sam Francisco around Dec 14, it was announced by the Athletic Department. This is the man who will lead the Dons on the road to athletic supremacy. However, a few fellows have caught his eye. These cagemen are Don Giesen and Sherman Heaney, forwards; Johnny Desmond, Walt Kolling, and Ivan Slavich at guards.

John Desmond is the little ball-of-fire that Coach Bussenius has dubbed "Peanuts." Johnny is the cool and suave young man whom you see down in the Green-and Gold room, busily engaged in collecting the "jits" for the pool games. This likeable redhead is one of those ball players who is always a stellar performer. Not the spectacular player, Johnny is in there pitching all the time. John is one of the few on the squad who is not a Frosh, having a year of college at St. Mary's. When at Sacred Heart, his alma mater, he was outstanding in football as well as baseball and basketball. His own words, "We'll try our best", are enough for us. This typifies the spirit of this Don and of the team. They, as well as Johnny, will be in there pitching all the time. Keep up that spirit, Johnny (TheFoghorn).
