Lieberspeck gave Hayward another run in the bottom of the second, but from then on she, as well as the rest of the Dons defense, were brilliant. She struck out eight batters on the day while walking just one batter over the last five innings. That walk came in the bottom of the sixth, but Hayward was kept from scoring by two beautiful defense gems by Rhonda Elmore in centerfield, and Donna Price at shortstop. "Rhonda made an outstanding catch" said USF Coach Mike Rice. "It saved a run because they had a runner in scoring position (TheFoghorn)."
