The pitching staff is numerous and experienced. Starters figure to be senior John Ramaciotti, juniors Ken Bowman, Dan Merolla, and Joe Toboni, and possibly freshman Jim Leoni.

Pepperdine clinched its first WCAC championship when it took three games from St. Maryland, when Loyola took two out of three from Santa Clara. The inning had four hits, a hit batsman, a walk and two errors. The Dons got their eight runs on a total of only six hits and seven walks, while also capitalizing on three errors. The Rebels closed out their last league game with seven runs on nine hits, two walks, and three errors. Jim Leoni got the win in relief.

Jim Leoni closes his four year reign as one of the Don's premier pitchers for the past four years. Leoni has been called on to pitch many of the Don games both in a starting role and in a relieving role. Leoni displayed his brilliance by recovering from an injury to his pitching arm to keep the Dons winning hopes alive with fantastic outings. And despite what the Foghorn Sports Editor has said in the past in jest, Leoni can strike out just about anybody (TheFoghorn).
