    Men's Soccer (1986)
The first half showed some great plays by the makeshift Don offense, but lack of finishers left the score tied at 1-1 at halftime. Powell made a fine save to stop a potential goal as did Doyle late in the half. The second half was all USF. The Dons out shot their opponents 12-3 in the half. Murphy was everywhere, making things happen, and something finally did happen as Jess DeGuzman slid a shot under the goalie after a 1 on 1 confrontation for a 2-1 lead. After the Gauchos picked up a disqualifying red card, the one man advantage became obvious. Doyle now had the luxury to move up, and was promptly fouled in the penalty box.

Jan Helge Schiefloe scored the winning goal for the Dons, and Jess DeGuzman added an insurance score. The Dons throttled the helpless USD team with apparent ease. Every aspect of the game was impressive for the home team. In sharp contrast to Saturday's game, the Dons played with a high pressure attack. It paid off tremendously, as they had shots left and right. Against a quality opponent, this was one of the best games of the year for USF, and it couldn't have come at a better time (TheFoghorn).
