David Jason Chandler was born on June 14, 1971 in Burbank, CA. He attended Burbank High School and then USF, and played baseball as a pitcher for the Dons. He was 6' 4", 210 lbs and batted and threw right. He was drafted in 1993 while still at USF, by the Cinncinati Reds. After 2 years at USF, he played for the Princeton Reds, the Regina Cyclones, the Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks, and the Fargo-Morgan Redhawks.
Five USF pitchers combined for a 13-inning, 2-hit shut out and junior Rich Crawford hit a game-winning, two-run single as the Dons remained unbeaten, with a 4-0 non-conference victory Saturday over CS Hayward at Municipal Stadium. Newcomer Jason Chandler was credited with the win, although he faced just one batter in the bottom of the 12th. He k'd Larry Tiger to close the inning, and pave the way for USF's rally.
In the first game, Jason Chandler (4-3) went the distance against the Toreros' pro-prospect Mike Saipe (5-1). Chandler, a junior transfer from College of the Canyons, recorded his WCC-leading third complete game victory of the season, as the Dons surpassed their win total of last season and snapped an eight-game losing streak (TheFoghorn).
