Though the Dons dominated the game with the play of their center midfielders, Omar and Per Christian Larsen, the Midshipmen were able to hold USF scoreless in the first half. But this was a game of patience. All that the Dons had to do was to continue to hold Navy off and eventually the goals would come. USF, a team stacked with veterans. did just that. They kept control of the ball and attacked when there looked to be a breakdown in Navy defense. In the final minutes of the second half, their waiting was over. 

Pires controlled the ball with the composure of a true striker, slotting the ball near-post with his left foot. It was his second goal of the season. giving USF a win (USFFoghorn).
