Career Highlights: Four-time letter winner, scored 19 points against 16th ranked Missouri

Biography: Brovelli was a four-year letter winner on the Hilltop. After a solid freshman season, Brovelli had to red-shirt the next season due to a stress fracture in his foot. He came back healthy as a sophomore and provided a steady presence off the bench as the backup point guard playing 19 minutes per game. As a junior he had a standout game against nationally ranked Missouri at the Big Island Classic in Hawaii scoring 19 points and helping the underdog Dons knock off the 16th ranked Tigers under legendary coach Norm Stewart.

He took over the starting point guard duties at the beginning of his senior season. His smart play on the court and pesky defense helped lead the Dons to an upset over New Mexico in the Pit in November of 1994 - thus sending the Lobos to a season opening loss at home. It marked the first time the Lobos had lost a home opener inside the legendary "Pit" in over 15 years. He finished his senior season averaging 6.5 points and 4 assists per contest and was an 81% free throw shooter in his final year while starting all 29 games.

Why Brovelli Chose USF: "USF had a great tradition and I felt honored to be a part of it. Also my dad, Jim Brovelli, was the head coach at the time which made my experience on the Hilltop extra special."

Favorite USF Memories: "I played with great teammates such as Orlando Smart, Gerald Walker and John Dugan. One of the best memories was in 1994, when we took a trip to Italy and played the Italian professional teams. The relationships and camaraderie we built with each other overseas is what propelled us to have a great season. The following year we got invited to the pre-season NIT tournament where we advanced to the second round after upsetting New Mexico at The Pit."

The USF Student-Athlete Experience: “One of the best things about being a student athlete was traveling to places I would not have ever had the opportunity to visit, and experiencing different cultures."

Life After USF: Brovelli earned his teaching credential from Dominican University, and coached basketball and taught at his prep alma mater, San Rafael High School for two years. He then transitioned to law enforcement where he has worked for the Marin County Sheriff’s Office for the past 20 years, and is currently a Sergeant. Brovelli volunteers and coaches many youth sports programs in his community. He enjoys playing golf and spending time with his three kids and attending their sporting events.
