Adding to the reserve strength of Spud Lewis" 1935 eleven, ten players of outstanding ability have transferred to the Hilltop from other colleges and junior colleges. These men will be on the field at the first practice whistle trying to displace some of the regulars from their first string positions. The most conspicuous of the new arrivals are Mel and Lowell Nicholson. These lads are twins, both being 21 years old, 5 feet 10 inches in height and 180 pounds in weight. They attended Modesto Junior College where both won their letters at the gridiron sport. Mel will be out to capture a berth at quarter while Lowell will cavort at the right half position. Although they attended spring practice, little is known of their ability due to injuries received early in the session.

Strong Reserves Waiting to relieve the three triple-threat and one double- threat men in the backfield are Arneson, who is coming right along, Chevalier and Pucci at fullback; Bob Johnson and Prentiss Wells, who are particularly impressive, Del Baggio, Franchoni, Hale, Johnstone, and Lowell Nicholson at the halfback position; and Joe Kash and Mel Nicholson at the quarterback. With three men in the backfield able to kick, four able to pass, two who can crack the line and two who can run together with a hard fighting line and the ball-flipping plays arranged by Lewis, the Dons will present a formidable outfit on the white-lined field tomorrow (TheFoghorn).
