Career Highlights: Three-year letter winner for Track and Field; One-year letter winner for Cross Country
Biography: Freeman was member of the track and field team on the Hilltop. He competed in the 100 meter run, the 220 meter run, the 440 meter run and the 440 meter indoor hurdles. He also ran on the cross country team in 1969.
Why Freeman Chose USF: “It was a Jesuit University and I did not care for the people who went to Santa Clara."
Favorite USF Memories: “I remember we mostly traveled by car, most often to San Francisco State and Sonoma State. I also remember UOP, UC Davis, Chico State, Stanislaus State and participating in some all-comers/AAU meets down the Peninsula. Our coach Glynn Williams was an anthropology professor who ran on the United Kingdom national team for several years.”

Did You Know?: When Freeman was on the Track and Field team in the late 1960s the standard distance for the longer run was 440 meters. "Today they only run 400 meters which is 437.5 yards - I would have been under 50 seconds for sure," joked Freeman whose best time was just over 50 seconds.
Life After USF: Following graduation, Freeman served for two years as an Army officer, including in Vietnam with the legendary 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. He had a career in corporate taxation and is now semi-retired. Freeman has been a basketball season ticket holder since the 1998-99 season. He and his wide Claudia have two children and three grandchildren.
