Jason Blakely played one season for the Dons; he was a starter in baseball, and a former Palo Alto High School graduate.
Adding depth in the bullpen will be freshmen Mike Palshaw, Sean Buller, and Ed Dryden, along with returners Jason Blakely and the submarining Keith Halcovich.
"There were way more positives than negatives in that game," Hill said. "That's a top twenty team, and we beat them over the last few innings. We were in control of the whole game, after that fiasco of giving up nine runs." And that's about the story of this one, as freshman starter Sean Buller pitched just the first inning, a pre-planned move by Hill to spread the work around his overworked pitching staff. Buller just missed the fireworks, as Jason Blakely relieved him to start the second inning. Blakely gave way to Matt Shaukowitch, who gave way to Keith Halcovich (and his 15 consecutive balls), who gave way to David Bernhard, who narrowly got the Dons out of the third before Hill burst an artery (TheFoghorn).
