With Wingert and Quinlivan, the Dons have a flexible goalie tandem that can also play on the defense.
With strong leadership coming from team captains Lila Danielson and Pam Riggs, mixed with a solid defensive effort by freshman goal keeper Joanna Quinlivan in the opener, the team looked ready for the trip to the Northwest with stops at the University of Washington, University of Portland, and Oregon State. Unfortunately, dreams of success were doused by losses to all three teams. The Dons played quite well, but turned out to be slightly overmatched. Thursday' s contest with thc Huskies, played at Everett high school outside of Seattle, turned out to be a defensive struggle, with neither team able to crack each other's defenses during regulation. Quinlivan was superb in goal keeping, recording eight saves. USF had trouble getting shots on goal with only eight for the whole-game. With 2:49 remaining in the second overtime period, Husky freshman Elizabeth Corey received a pass from fellow freshman Darcy Fitzpatrick and blazed the ball just past Quinlivan's out stretched arms for the game's only goal. Corey's shot came from outside the penalty area for the first goal Quinlivan had surrendered this season (TheFoghorn).
