Daniel Joseph “Danny” Drinon was born in Bangor, ME, the sixth son in a family of nine children to George W. and Katherine Clarke Drinon. He was educated in Bangor schools, graduating from Bangor High School in the Class of 1956. During his high school days, he was a member of the 1955 Bangor Rams basketball team which won the 1955 Maine State Championship. He also played in the original New England Tournament in Boston Garden, and was chosen for the First Team of All-New England players. He continued on to college, attending Ventura Junior College in Ventura, CA, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of San Francisco in 1961. He played basketball for the Dons from 1958 to 1961.
He moved from San Francisco to Holden, MA. Danny worked as a sales representative for Underwood-Olivette for 2 years before joining a subsidiary of Miles Laboratories. He worked in the diagnostic and instrumentation division of Miles which was later acquired by Bayer AG, and retired after 37 years. In 2000, Danny moved to Kennebunkport, ME where he was an avid golfer.
