The victory parade for the University of San Francisco tennis team rolled on its merry way as St. Mary's, San Francisco State arid California fell before the Hilltop racqueteers. In 50 matches played thus far, the Green and Gold team has won all but one. Only California's Bears have proved formidable opposition, and the only team to force the Dons to three sets in any matches. Rain halted the Bear match after the Dons had assured victory with five singles, wins in six tries. The players were Likas, Roche, Catton, Kraft, Brown, J. Anderson, Catton-Roche, Kraft-Likas, Hays-Anderson.

Rumors are flying around in the tennis world that USF has the tennis material to manufacture a "second" Davis Gup Tennis Team, and that is just about the actual situation. In '48 theoretically we would have the best intercollegiate squad in the nation if it were not for just one hitch. Two of the best players who have registered with the school this year, apparently will be ineligible, the reason being that they transferred from other colleges to this college this year. Another new student here is Bill Green, who in 1945 captured everything that Canada had to offer in the way of junior titles. Re-registering after two years in the Marines is Jack Kramer, who is well known in San Francisco junior circles and who won several service tourneys. The Anderson brothers, Jim and Bill, who made up the third doubles team last year will be back, and yours truly, Dave Brown, will be again striking, out for water boy (TheFoghorn).

Sweeping all Bay Area competition of the courts in team play, this year's tennis squad was the most successful to date of all athletic components representing the Hilltop. The Don netmen boast an outstanding record: in defeating six college outfits they won forty-nine out of fifty sets ... truly a remarkable feat.

Top man on the team is Harry Likas, seeded fifteenth among college players throughout the country, and a veteran of tournament play all over the nation. Last winter he competed in the annual Sugar Bowl tournament in New Orleans. Seeded right behind Likas is smooth Harry Roche, another veteran of court competition for many years. Conway Catton, George Kraft, Dave Brown and Jim Anderson round out the team, all of them top flight players.

Besides the N.C.T.A. Tournament at Berkeley, the Ojai Invitational, and the N.C.A.A. at Los Angeles, the racqueteers played almost every college team in California (TheDon).
