In the first game, Rich Crowe added two hits and three RBIs, and Marchbanks went all seven innings to pick up his third win of the year as the Dons won 4-2. In the first game of the series, Rich Igou could only go 3 1/3 before Hrepich came on to finish off the final 5 2/3 innings to pick up the 8-4 win. Quittner and Crowe each had two hits, while Hempel had two RBIs. Looking to next year, the Dons will lose third baseman Steve Berringer and outfielder Rich Crowe to graduation, and pitcher-shortstop Joe Nelson is expected to leave due to the draft.

On the injury front: outfielder Rob Gabriele, pitcher Rich Igou, and second baseman Jermaine Clark, each did not play in the LMU series due to different injuries and are expected to return this weekend when the team hosts Saint Mary's. "If we can get healthy, if Igou can come back to his original form, and our pitchers turn it around, I look for us to have a successful rest of the season. Until we're mathematically out, I still think we have a chance to win it," Head Coach Rich Hill said. In their spring break series versus Southern Utah, they split the series with the Thunderbirds, but out of SUU's seven wins on the year, four have come by way of the Dons. The odds were not in the Dons favor in the final two games, which they lost 8-2, or their 13-1 loss the game before, but the Hilltoppers "hit the jackpot" in the first two games of the series behind outfielder Rich Crowe, who went 5-10, with four runs, five RBIs to win 14-3 and 15-7. Crowe also had two doubles in the first game and two home runs in the second game (TheFoghorn).
