There may be a few changes in the starting team before we line up against Santa Clara. The work of Mel Reid was especially notlceable in scrimmage this week and Mel may get the starting call at right half on his showing in practice. Mel is our best kicker right now and I think he'll be ready for the Broncos despite the fact he reported a week late for practice.
 

There are nine entries in the Pentathlon, a five-event contest, so don't be surprised if a dark horse walks away with the whole affair. Sammy Johnstone, Mel Reid, or Frank Balestrieri are capable of scoring a win in any of the five events. The winner will probably be decided on the way the nine contestants split up the points in the various events.

President's Day came on April 17, and Phil Kearney succeeded Pete Franceschi as winner of the Pentathlon. 'Forty-two, led by Kearney, Franceschi, Mel Reid, Hon Zabala, took class honors for the day. Reid was a 174 lb. transfer from Sacramento Junior College (TheFoghorn).
