The Don fireworks began again in the opening inning. After Collier retired Reno in its half of the inning, USF tallied two on a double by left-fielder Larry Belardi and a towering home run by catcher Kevin Keating over the left field wall.
The Dons exploded for three in both the fifth and sixth. Hits by Sears, Belardi and Keating turned into a fifth inning bonanza while Ken Bullock won his third and fourth games of the year over Santa Clara and San Francisco State. Singles by freshman standout Mike Mooney and Reggie Brown combined with doubles by Belardi and "Double D" Don Doughty for three more. Bob Bachtold, with his third single of the afternoon drove in Sears, who also singled for a third time in the eighth for the final Don run. Belardi also added three hits to the Don cause (TheFoghorn).
