Time Garlick played for three seasons under the NCAA's all-time winning soccer coach Stephen Negoesco, who was in his 39th and final season. Negoesco had 538 career wins and five national championships in his tenure at San Francisco. Tim Garlick led the team in scoring in 2000 with two goals and two assists in five games.
Freshman defender Tim Garlick made a run down the left sideline, and his cross into the penalty area was tipped in by a DePaul player for the first goal, six minutes before halftime. "It takes 20-25 games to created game flow," said Visser wistfully, knowing full well that the Dons play only a 20-game schedule. Still, heading into the Nike-Coca-Cola Classic at Santa Clara this weekend, where the Dons will face Cal-State Northridge and William and Mary, the Dons have plenty of bright spots. New defenders Tim Garlick and Chris Yantos have played solid and smart, with Garlick providing occasional offensive help.
The Dons will have that chance, with a staggering 15 players returning who started at least five games this season. The strong midfield core of Per Christian Larsen, Omar El-Fakiri, Jordi Esteban, and Akerjordet will be pushed by Carlos Fernandez, Tiberiu Marinescu, and the flashy Pires, whose stellar play in the late part of the season promises him more playing time. The backline will also be anchored by returning defenders Jensen, Tim Garlick, Chris Yantos, and Jorge Santome, as well as goalkeepers Vaughn and Mullen (TheFoghorn).
